During my time at Lichtenberg Studios in April 2013, there were two particularly noticeable background noises: our neighbours were a round-the-clock nightingale and the S-Bahn trains that also never stopped. This was like a competition, a battle between nature and civilisation. A little like the contrast between Mozart and a jack-hammer… I didn’t see any common ground between them, it was more of a parallel existence (seasonally dependent). Although the nightingale sings very loudly, it is hard to detect and likes to hide; however, I did actually succeed in capturing it on photograph.
