Köbberling/Kaltwasser

A tribute to all bike-carriers in India and China

Inspired by the transport methods used in Asian countries where piles of objects are stacked onto bicycles and transported, Folke Köbberling fastened the contents of a room onto the luggage carrier of her bicycle and transported it all from Lichtenberg to Küstrin-Kietz, a town on the Polish border where she has a small house. Lichtenberg railway station is an important hub for commuters and travellers arriving from countries to the east of Germany. Many trains travelling east depart from Lichtenberg. With her luggage – 1 table, 2 wooden chairs, 1 set of shelves, 1 mattress, 5 books, various kitchen utensils, 1 hammock – she travelled from Lichtenberg to Küstrin-Kietz.
