“Chinese”

The pre-fabricated tower blocks in the “Am Tierpark” estate are home to thousands of residents – but where are all the young people? I posted notices and distributed flyers inviting people to meet to play a so-called “Chinese” game of table tennis, where a group of players form a rotating circle around the table. Those who turned up were aged 12 or 13 or in their mid-20s; others were parents with children or young children on their own. They had a lot of fun together. In the days that followed, I was stopped on the street on a number of occasions and asked if I could organise a repeat event. Another table tennis session was held, and new people came along.
